Overview

The Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting will assist in financial reporting preparation, technical accounting research, certain period-end closing activities and internal control documentation. This role will help ensure timely, complete and accurate reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP (and other applicable regulatory standards), support key Finance department initiatives, and participate in special projects and analysis. This position cross-functionally collaborates with Legal, HR, FP&A, Tax, and other departments. The ideal candidate is proactive, dynamic, detail-oriented, and has a continuous improvement mindset.

 

This is a hybrid position (T/W/TH onsite) in our Nashville, TN office, reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare, review and analyze period-end financial reporting statements and related disclosures
  • Drive the monthly preparation and analysis of the Statement of Cash Flows
  • Manage the timely flow of deliverables and certifications from business partners
  • Understand the balance sheet, P&L and cash flow impacts of account activity, including classifications of financial statement line items
  • Maintains “Lean” mindset (continuous process improvements, simplification, and automation to streamlines outputs and increase accuracy) and professional skepticism
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure that transactions are captured appropriately in the financial statements
  • Maintain and document requisite controls and procedures

Technical Accounting

  • Timely complete financial close procedures with appropriate documentation, including journal entries, account reconciliations and flux analysis
  • Research applicable accounting guidance, prepare accounting policy memorandums, document unusual transactions, and implement new accounting standards
  • Communicate technical concepts, either verbally, in decks or memos, to leadership and business partners in “plain English”
  • Account for share-based compensation (ASC 718) and leasing (ASC 842)
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Accounting, CPA required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Minimum of 1+ year of public accounting experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and experience with researching and implementing ASC guidance
  • Willingness to learn, strong attention to detail and organizational skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong analytical, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Workiva, D365 and Blackline preferred
