Overview

We are seeking an innovative DevOps Director to partner with technical and product teams across business units, understand the unique and common aspects of each, and design, facilitate, and build tooling to accelerate organizational velocity. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with tech teams and stakeholders throughout the organization to develop DevOps practices and solutions as we transform and advance the design, development of our platform. The successful candidate will also manage a team of DevOps engineers and participate in the building of solutions while overseeing design and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Help build a DevOps and CI/CD team and be part of a high-performance, responsive team of DevOps Engineers
  • Liaise with development teams across technology teams to elevate existent best practices and collaborate to build new solutions that address identified opportunities
  • Liaise with the CTO leadership team and work to bring modernization to the DevOps space while following enterprise guidelines
  • Play a critical role in building best practices-based DevOps culture
  • Build, operate, and advocate DevOps solutions and tooling accelerating company goals
  • Lead, coach, and manage a small team of DevOps engineers while continuing to contribute functionally
  • Write performance reviews and grow the talent of direct reports
  • Take full ownership of the DevOps discipline and be responsible for managing all server/infrastructure related issues

Qualifications

  • Experience managing public cloud infrastructure on AWS/GCP, including design, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale environments.
  • Hands on experience in building CI/CD pipelines, preferably Gitlab;
  • Experience with Kubernetes container orchestration technologies. AWS EKS, or Google GKE is strongly desired.
  • Experience in Continuous Delivery tools like ArgoCD
  • Experience in IAC tooling like Terraform for GCP/AWS and/or other similar tooling
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservice architecture, logging/metric/tracing platforms (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, etc), and security.
  • Able to debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues calmly and efficiently.
  • Experience in Event-Driven architecture
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of enterprise-class business applications that are high performance and low latency.
  • Ability to encourage the development of CI/CD pipelines and automation across teams.
  • Competent in all facets of agile methodologies (Kanban & SCRUM) and software development.
  • Strong familiarity with and evidence of grasp of technical quality control procedures and equipment.
  • Knowledge of integrating tools for best practices such code coverage analysis, automated unit testing, integration testing, and static code analysis.
  • Understanding of IAC tooling, including as Terraform, ARM, and Ansible.
  • Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Sprint Cloud (Mongo DB preferred)
  • 8+ years of IT experience
  • 6+ years of DevOps or Release Management leadership experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on working experience with CI/CD processes
  • 2+ years of working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP is a benefit
  • 2+ years of hands-on working experience with managing, source code repositories like TFVC and GIT/Bitbucket, and automation of configuration management tasks.
  • 2+ years in a management role with direct reports.
