Overview

We are hiring a Senior Security Engineer to lead technical initiatives across endpoint security, network security, web application security, email security, SIEM/log ingest, and security architecture. This role is a hands-on engineering position responsible for designing, implementing, and improving security controls at scale.

 

The Senior Security Engineer serves as a technical escalation point within Security Engineering, partners closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, IT, and SOC teams, and helps drive the maturity of HireRight’s security posture through practical, well-engineered solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise endpoint, network, and cloud security controls
  • Own and evolve HireRight’s email security posture, including phishing defenses, impersonation protections, secure configuration, and email-based DLP
  • Provide security consultation to Technology and business teams on secure integrations, data flows, and handling of sensitive data
  • Define and maintain SIEM and log ingestion standards, ensuring high-quality, actionable telemetry for detection and response teams
  • Engineer configuration baselines and security hardening standards across operating systems, servers, endpoints, and user platforms
  • Provide technical mentorship to security engineers and contribute to long-term program maturity
  • Produce and maintain clear documentation and audit-ready artifacts for security controls and configurations
  • Partner with security leadership on roadmap planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or related technical roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with endpoint security, network security, and system hardening
  • Solid understanding of SIEM architecture, log ingestion pipelines, normalization, and detection workflows
  • Experience with enterprise security technologies such as WAF, secure web gateways/proxies, email security platforms, and encryption mechanisms.
  • Experience collaborating with Infrastructure, Cloud, IT, and SOC teams in a production environment
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST

Preferred Skills:

  • Scripting and automation experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Experience leading security initiatives or cross-team engineering efforts
  • Strong understanding of detection engineering and security telemetry
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to identify control gaps, propose scalable solutions, and drive execution
