Overview

We're looking for a strong Senior Software Engineer who happens to be fluent in workflow automation  not a platform specialist looking for the next configuration project. That distinction matters to us.

We run a production, event-driven automation platform on Microsoft Power Platform using Power Automate cloud and desktop flows, Power Apps, and Dataverse. It processes thousands of order requests, moves sensitive and regulated data, and integrates with partner and internal systems. It was built deliberately  as a reusable pattern library, not a pile of one-off scripts and we intend to keep it that way as it grows.

This isn't reverse-engineering a legacy mess, and it isn't a blank page. We need an engineer who can learn the architecture quickly, respect the decisions that make it maintainable, and extend it with the same discipline it was built with.

What matters most to us

Think in queues, not scripts.

The comfortable instinct, when a new automation problem shows up, is to write a longer, more thorough procedure: check this, then do that, then handle that exception, all in one long run. That instinct doesn't scale, and it's exactly what this platform was designed to move away from.

We want someone who reaches instead for a work-queue model discrete units of work that get dispatched, claimed, processed, and dispositioned independently so volume, failure, and retry are handled by the architecture, not by ever-longer scripts.

The second thing: judgment about when to use no-code, low-code, and pro-code and the discipline to hold the engineering bar regardless of which one you reach for. Power Platform lowers the cost of building automation. It does not lower the standard of the engineering behind it.

This is a hybrid role (3 days onsite) located in our dowtown Nashville office location.

Responsibilities

  • Own the deep engineering on our automation platform, working alongside the team that runs it today.
  • Extend cloud and desktop flows while keeping the separation clean: desktop flows do only what needs direct UI or machine interaction; orchestration, logic, and data live in the cloud.
  • Grow the event-driven model and the shared pattern library.
  • Make things more reliable via exception handling, retries, idempotency, logging, monitoring and chase root causes, not symptoms.
  • Treat security as a first-class concern end to end, given the sensitive, regulated data the platform handles.

Qualifications

We care more about engineering fundamentals and judgment than a perfect keyword match. That said, this role needs real depth in workflow automation, so relevant experience likely includes:

  • Microsoft Power Automate in production.
  • Dataverse as an application platform (schema, security, business events, Custom APIs), not just a data store.
  • C#/.NET, including Dataverse plugin development.
  • Designing with queue-based, asynchronous patterns and knowing when RPA is the right tool versus an API.
  • Secure engineering for sensitive or regulated data: encryption, secrets management, least privilege.
  • Building REST APIs and integrating with enterprise and external systems.
  • Supporting production systems and handling real incidents.

Nice to haves:

  • Azure (including Key Vault), Power Platform ALM and multi-solution deployment, Azure DevOps / CI-CD and the Power Platform CLI, experience with regulated or HR-adjacent data, and a track record of mentoring.
